Where Can I Serve?

Jesus told us to make disciples of all nations. One of the most important values of First Baptist
Church of Edna is our mission to the world. It begins in our own community, and spreads overseas to every nation. The members of this church are involved in a variety of ministries in effort to glorify God and serve His people.

Baptism Ministry
Participants in this ministry assist baptismal candidates at times of baptism services and meet all baptismal needs as required.

Bereavement Ministry
The Bereavement Ministry is designed to assist with the coordinating and delivery of a meal for families who have experienced the death of a loved one.

Bus and Van Ministry
Volunteers in this ministry pick up people on Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings to assist in their commute to weekly church activities.

Deep Roots Ministry
This ministry is designed to equip the youth of our community for the spreading of the Gospel, and to magnify God in every aspect of their lives. This ministry is for students ranging from 6th – 12th grade and meets in our Student Ministry Building (SMB). All students are encouraged to join Deep Roots for weekly gatherings on each Wednesday evening and during Sunday School.

Evangelism and Missions Ministry
Those involved with our Evangelism and Missions Ministry provide guidance for the church to be faithful in fulfilling the Great Commission Mandate in our local community and around the world.

Fellowship Ministry
Participants in this ministry assist in the planning and conducting of church-wide fellowships and special receptions at the church.

Flower Ministry
This ministry helps schedule and coordinate the placement of flowers throughout the church on a weekly basis.

Greeter and Usher Ministry
Those involved in this ministry assist (on a rotating basis) in welcoming people as they enter the church for worship. Volunteers also distribute weekly bulletins throughout the church prior to corporate worship.

Jail Ministry
Since September 1991, monthly worship and Bible studies have been conducted at the Jackson County Detention Center. Through this ministry, many inmates have come to a saving relationship with Jesus Christ. Men and Ladies’ services are conducted back to back on Thursday evenings once a month.

Kitchen Ministry
Volunteers in this ministry serve meals and clean up the church kitchen after fellowship gatherings.

Language Ministry
Volunteers in the Language Ministry assist in English Second Language (ESL) classes for those who need tutoring in the English language.

MotherWise
Founded in September of 2002, the MotherWise Ministry offers a weekly Bible study and opportunities for women to gather for fellowship and prayer. Women of all ages are welcome to participate in this ministry.

Music and Media
God-honoring worship is something we strive for at First Baptist Church of Edna. Many church members are involved in our music and media ministry, and there is always room for more. These volunteers are an important part of the ministry of our church, using their talents and gifts to glorify God.

Nursery Ministry
This ministry provides loving care and supervision of infants and toddlers during our corporate worship services.

Nursing Home Ministry
The Nursing Home Ministry offers outreach and encouragement to church members and others who are residents at local nursing homes.

Office Help
The church welcomes any volunteers to assist with office work such as answering the phone, preparing documents and any other services that are needed.

Operation Christmas Child®
Operation Christmas Child® (OCC) is a project of Samaritan’s Purse, an international relief organization. The mission of OCC is to provide local partners around the world with shoeboxes filled with small toys, hygiene items, and school supplies as a means of reaching out to children in their own communities with the Good News of Jesus Christ. These simple gifts are shipped outside the United States to children affected by war, poverty, natural disaster, famine, and disease; and to children living on Native American reservations in the U.S.

Senior Adult Ministry
Those involved in the Senior Adult Ministry plan monthly activities for all senior citizens (60+). Scheduled activities are documented in the church bulletin and monthly newsletter.

Upward Sports

Upward Sports is a children’s and youth ministry focused on prioritizing Christian values and Christlike character. Every week, participants are given a Bible lesson at the end of their sports related activities and are taught how to use sports as a platform to glorify God.

Wednesday Evening Meal
Volunteers in this ministry assist in serving meals immediately before every Wednesday gathering at the church.

Wish Tree Ministry
The Wish Tree Ministry is active throughout the Fall/Christmas season. All outreach efforts are focused on ministering to the families in our church and surrounding community who are facing hard times.
